Lagos, 23 October 2026
The Nigerian Marine Environment Protection Association (NIMEPA) has strengthened its engagement with the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) following a strategic meeting with its Marine Environment Management Department.

NIMEPA’s delegation, led by its Chairman, Mrs. Funke Agbor, SAN, and Trustee, Ambassador Mrs. Nimi Akinkugbe, was received by Mr. Kabiru Bello, Head of the Climate Change and Green Shipping Division, and his team.
The meeting identified potential areas for cooperation, including marine pollution prevention, environmental awareness, stakeholder engagement and initiatives supporting sustainable maritime practices and Nigeria’s Blue Economy.
A key outcome was the establishment of a direct channel for continued engagement, providing a basis for both organisations to explore practical joint initiatives, subject to the necessary consultations and approvals.

The engagement reflects NIMEPA’s commitment to working constructively with regulatory institutions and maritime stakeholders to translate environmental advocacy into meaningful action.
